Scripts : Deprecated : Backups

These scripts will only run with PBX In A Flash ISO version 1.0 and 1.1 with Asterisk 1.4.15 or earlier. If you use it on "other pbx" systems you may have problems.

Deprecated Whole Disk Backups

Version 2.0 just released

You will need to do a complete reinstall to use some of the new features in version 2.0. Some highlights are easier configuration and emailing of log files. Also there is a critical update for mindi which has been causing some problems on a small number of systems. It is recommended all users upgrade to version 2.0 and remove the old /etc/cron.weekly/dailybackup.cron prior to installing version 2.0!

The wait is over for PBX in a Flash users! The whole disk backup script is now ready for download and installation. This script have been tested extensively with PBX in a Flash and will only work with it. We only support PBX in a Flash so don't ask to port it to one of the "other" systems.

One of the problems facing users of PBX in a Flash is the ability to backup completely their system to an external storage medium and then be able to restore it if there has been a hardware failure. To address this need an install and run script was developed. The program chosen to do the backup and restore was Mondo. (http:\\www.mondorescue.org) This program will backup you hard drive and all partitions to ISO type files. Our script then copies these files to offsite storage facility. When you need to restore you PIAF system you burn the recovery cd's and boot from disk 1 and restore you system.

Script Requirements

  • External backup medium of some form. Some examples below:
    • USB flash drive of sufficient size
    • FTP account
    • Windows Share
    • USB hard drive
  • Working PBX in a Flash system **

**NOTE the install and production script will only work with PBX in a Flash, use on "other pbx" systems may cause your system to stop working.

We no longer distribute the actual rpm's for mondo. This is due to onerous burdens placed on such distribution by the "software police". I have placed a link at the bottom for access to the source code.

Installation

Due to the complexity of the installation and configuration you need to download and print the manual and then follow it. Have a look below or click HERE.

Documentation

Script Creator: Tom King

Download the DiskBackup Install Guide. Once you have read the manual entirely and filled out the requisite information please follow the steps outlined to install and configure your disk backup system. **NOTE This is a fairly detailed and complex guide and is targeted at people who understand something about Linux. At the moment there is no way to simplify this.

Download the Whole Disk Backup documentation. This manual will describe how to install and manual run Mondoarchive in order to completely backup you PBX in a Flash system.

Download MondoRestore documentation. This is useful if you are restoring to different hardware then you backed up from.

The Running Mondo manually on PBX in a Flash document tells you in a step by step fashion how to run mondoarchive from the CLI in PBX in a Flash.
